Counter Strike Source has been waiting for a year like 2009 for a long time. With the excitement and buzz of all the different tournaments, leagues, sponsors and LANs getting involved again. Our team consists of players who have all played since the creation of the game. To be honest we all haven't felt such excitement since then because all the leagues and LANs taking so much interest in the our community. It's been a slow last two years waiting for the next big worldwide or nationwide LAN to come. Direct TV's CGS has been the only premier LANs and leagues for counter strike source for the last two years. Now with Intel hosting more and more LANfest events and the new CPL announcing two major tournaments each year. CPL has always been a event you can rely on big prizes and the best worldwide competition for many years. A lot of teams and players have more interest in getting back involved professionaly because you have a lot more chance to shine, become more known in the community , get to play other top teams at LANs and in online tournaments more often. Also giving lesser known teams more chance to prove themselves as well.

You can't forget all the local and regional LANs that are popping up more and more. You can almost find a LAN once or twice a month these days with all the new LAN centers opening and new companies taking interest in the communities. At California LANs you can find teams from all over the west coast and not just California either. Lots of teams from the northwest, southwest, midwest, north east, south east, Canada and more all host many successful small (and growing) LANs to keep gamers interested and competing in the game.

All being said, I feel 2009 is the start for gaming to take its next big step in profesional gaming. Becoming unquestionably more and more popular, getting more exposure, and becoming more world wide. I'm hoping in 2010 we will be in a whole new era. eMg hats, shirts? We all hope so some day. I myself could see it happening. You already see fatal1ty merchandise in all kinds of stores and he hasn't won or played anything for a long time. 2009 here we come..
